In 2000, he began studying with\u00a0Tatiana Zelikman<\/a> at the\u00a0Gnessin School of Music<\/a>\u00a0in Moscow. From 2009 to 2015, Trifonov studied with\u00a0Sergei Babayan<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0Cleveland Institute of Music<\/a>. In 2011, he won the First Prize and Grand Prix at the\u00a0International Tchaikovsky Competition<\/a>\u00a0in addition to the First Prize at the\u00a0Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition<\/a>, and in 2010 was a prizewinner at the\u00a0International Chopin Piano Competition<\/a>. In 2013, Trifonov signed a recording contract with\u00a0Deutsche Grammophon<\/a>; his first album for the label, a live recording of his debut solo recital at\u00a0Carnegie Hall<\/a>, was nominated for a\u00a0Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental Solo<\/a>.
