Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11, was written in 1830. It was first performed on 11 October of that year, at the Teatr Narodowy (the National Theatre) in Warsaw, Poland, with the composer as soloist, during one of his “farewell” concerts before leaving Poland.

Chopin’s Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 35, is a piano sonata in four movements. Frédéric Chopin completed the work while living in George Sand’s manor in Nohant, some 250 km (160 mi) south of Paris, a year before it was published in 1840.

Chopin’s Prelude No 4 in E minor is one of the 24 preludes opus 28 for piano. By Frédéric Chopin’s request, this piece was played at his own funeral, along with Mozart’s Requiem. Hans von Bülow called the prelude “suffocation”, due to its sense of despair.
