Born in 1987 in Georgia, pianist Khatia Buniatishvili began studying piano under her mother at the age of three. She gave her first concert with Tbilisi Chamber Orchestra when she was 6 and appeared internationally at age 10. Khatia studied in Tbilisi with Tengiz Amiredjibi and in Vienna with Oleg Maisenberg.
 
Buniatishvili signed with Sony Classical as an exclusive artist in 2010. Her 2011 debut album included Liszt’s Sonata in B minor, Liebestraum No. 3, and Mephisto Waltz No. 1.

The Waltz No 7 in C-sharp minor was composed in 1847 and have three themes with different speeds. It is the second work of Frédéric Chopin’s opus 64 and the companion to the Minute Waltz (Op. 64, No. 1).

Libertango is a composition by tango composer Astor Piazzolla, recorded and published in 1974 in Milan. The title is a portmanteau merging “Libertad” (Spanish for liberty) and “Tango”, symbolizing Piazzolla’s break from Classical Tango to Tango Nuevo.

The well-known Double Violin Concerto in D minor, BWV 1043 is the basis of the transcription for this Concerto for two keyboards. It was transposed down a tone to allow the top note E6 to be reached as D6, the common top limit on harpsichords of the time.
